The proven sales professional from Reed Exhibitions Germany will take over the management of the newly established sales division at Messe Essen on 1 July.
Messe Essen is optimising its business organisation and in future is combining the sales activities in their own division. From 1 July, Frank Mertz, who has many years experience in exhibitor acquisition for trade fairs, will be responsible for managing this new business unit.
The business administration graduate was born in 1982 in Karlsruhe and is a trade fair sales professional through and through. As Head of Sales, he most recently led the “Sales Pool” at Reed Exhibitions Germany: a centralized sales department focused on new customer business.
Frank Mertz started his career path at Reed Exhibitions as early as 2006 when he was hired by the Düsseldorf trade fair organisers after completing his studies. He quickly rose to sales executive and later to sales manager, until finally the management of the central sales department was transferred over to him in 2010. In this position, Frank Mertz also acted as the German representative in the international steering committee for the global Reed programme "Sales Effectiveness".
Frank Mertz studied Business Administration at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Ravensburg and completed associated training in Ludwigsburg.
The pooling of the sales staff in a dedicated, strong business unit is the cornerstone of the efficiency programme adopted at the end of 2014 with which Messe Essen is repositioning itself for the future. By streamlining internal processes, taking advantage of synergies within the company and an optimising the business organization, cost savings amounting to 17.5 million euros are to be achieved in the next 10 years.
